About NMMS Exam
The National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship Examination (NMMSE) is a centrally sponsored scheme by the Indian government. It aims to provide financial assistance to economically weaker students who are studying in classes IX to XII. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of a competitive examination that is conducted every year at the state level.
The main objective of the NMMSE is to encourage students from economically weaker sections to continue their education at the secondary stage and to reduce the dropout rate in schools. The scholarship amount is Rs. 12,000 per annum, and it is disbursed to the eligible students on a quarterly basis.
To be eligible for the NMMSE, a student must be studying in a government or government-aided school and have secured at least 55% marks in class VIII. The annual income of the student’s family should not exceed Rs. 1.50 lakhs. Students who fulfill these criteria can apply for the scholarship through their respective schools.
